Boost you confidence with the Mirror Exercise, as taught by Lisa Nichols. 5 minutes a day is all it takes to feel better about yourself.
Lately I have been taken an online class with Lisa Nichols about speaking. I’m not an elaborate talker, so my speaking will be still mostly done in written form. And that always can improve, hence the course.
One of the exercises we were given early on was the Mirror Exercise. You just stand in front of a mirror, look yourself in the eyes and tell yourself these things every day, for at least 30 days:
- “(Your name), I’m proud of you for….” and give 7 examples
- “(Your name), I forgive you for….” and give 7 examples
- “(Your name), I commit to you that…” and give 7 examples
It’s not been easy for me to do this, in the beginning I could not even say it out loud, I just did it in my mind. So far I worked my courage up to a whisper, so there is still a long way to go.
I do however strongly believe that sharing this with the world is an important step to being more visible and being heard, as well as inspiring others to be proud of themselves.
So here are my 3×7 things:
- Yvonne, I’m proud of you for having the courage to change and transform yourself every day.
- Yvonne, I’m proud of you for realizing your own worth.
- Yvonne, I’m proud of you for getting vulnerable with yourself.
- Yvonne, I’m proud of you for defining your dreams and goals.
- Yvonne, I’m proud of you for changing your diet and exercise regime, while listening to your body.
- Yvonne, I’m proud of you for being so diligent and resilient.
- Yvonne, I’m proud of you for finally putting yourself first.
- Yvonne, I forgive you for entering shitty and toxic relationships.
- Yvonne, I forgive you for neglecting your body and putting on a lot of weight.
- Yvonne, I forgive you for working too much when you knew you needed rest.
- Yvonne, I forgive you for staying at home at times because you were too scared to face other people.
- Yvonne, I forgive you for not feeling you were ever good enough.
- Yvonne, I forgive you for trying to be someone you are not in order to fit in.
- Yvonne, I forgive you for playing it small so others could go big.
- Yvonne, I commit to you that I will cheer you on every step of the way.
- Yvonne, I commit to you that we will not enter a relationship again with someone who doesn’t deserve to be with us.
- Yvonne, I commit to you to eat a lot of fruit and vegetables every single day.
- Yvonne, I commit to you that we will keep growing and learning every day.
- Yvonne, I commit to you to live fully every day.
- Yvonne, I commit to you that we will make every dream come true.
- Yvonne, I commit to you that at the end of this live, we will have crossed off every item on our bucket list and have nothing more to give.
So, what is one thing that you are proud of? Would you mind sharing in the comments? Let’s be proud of us together!
